AAI ATC Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Candidates must have a full-time regular Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in any stream.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Science: A Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc) with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized university is also acceptable. (Physics & Mathematics should be subjects in any one of the semesters curriculum).
  3. Degree should be:
    a) From a Recognized/Deemed university or from an apex institution i.e. (IIT/IIMs/XLRI/TISS etc.) recognized by Govt. of India; and
    b) Percentage of marks: – Pass marks or equivalent for Bachelor’s Degree.
  4. Candidates having B.E./B. Tech/ B. Sc. (Engg.) Degree are allowed to apply where essential qualification is prescribed as Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Age Limit

  1. Upper Age Limit: The maximum age limit for candidates applying for the post of ATC in AAI is typically 27 years.
  2. Relaxation for Reserved Categories:
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Up to 3 years of age relaxation.
    • SC/ST: Up to 5 years of age relaxation.
    • Ex-servicemen: As per the rules set by the Government of India.
    • Candidates who are domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir: Up to 5 years of age relaxation.

Medical Fitness

Candidates must meet the medical standards as prescribed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This typically includes:

  1. Vision: Distant vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, both without corrective lenses. Near vision should be N5 in both eyes. The use of corrective lenses is permitted if the candidate meets the required vision standards with them.
  2. Hearing: Normal hearing ability is required, and candidates must be able to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 2 meters.
  3. Physical Fitness: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit, capable of performing the duties of an ATC.

Nationality

Candidates must be citizens of India.

Language Proficiency

Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, as it is the primary language used in international aviation.
